Special Guest: Donal Dennehy, Owner of Mr. Dennehy's
Irish Pub and Restaurant (63, Carmine St, Greenwich Village, NYC, 212-414-1223) -
Donal Dennehy was born in Cork City and now resides in Brooklyn (since 1984).
Donal worked as a radio dj prior to arrival in New York. His first job in the
restaurant business was a busboy in Rosie O' Grady's. Donal co-founded The Old
Shebeen in Montauk. He opened Lily's in Brooklyn in1994. Presently, Donal owns
and operates Mr. Dennehy's in Greenwich Village. Donal is also a guest lecturer
at NYU, teaching "The
pros & cons of going it alone," as part of NYU's Food & Beverage

IBO Breakfast Networking Format: Hosted
by Niall O'Leary,
attendees sit around a table enjoying a full Irish breakfast. All
present introduce themselves and talk for about a minute. The featured
speaker talks for longer, then we have a formal exchange of business
cards followed by a general discussion. The vibe is informal but focused!
(Usually ends somewhere between 9am and 9.30am. If you need to leave
earlier, please let us know at the start for seating purposes).

November Elections for
2007 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE of the Irish Business Organization of New York
Nominees (nominated at October 2006 meeting)

James Hinckley, for 2nd Vice President
John Cronogue, for Secretary
Niall O'Leary, for Treasurer
Election of Officers
- The annual election of Officers shall be made at the regular meeting held in November each year. The balloting shall be in writing and secret and the members in good standing shall designate by majority vote the person to act as temporary chairman during the election and also appoint three members who have not been nominated to act as tellers.
- All Officers shall be elected for a term of one year effective from January 1st of the year following election. A majority of the members present and entitled to vote shall be necessary to elect a candidate, provided that a quorum as provided under Article 5 of the Constitution is present.
Voting
- Votes will only be entertained from members in good standing as defined in Article V herein.
- All votes will be carried by simple majority except in the case of an expulsion vote (see Article IIII) and amendments to the Constitution and these by-laws.
- Absentee Ballots: Absentee Ballots may be used by a member in good standing in the annual election of officers and in voting for amendments to the Constitution and By-laws. The ballots must be placed in a sealed envelope inside a cover envelope which bears the signature of the member and must be received in time to be counted with the votes cast by those attending the election. The Secretary shall validate each absentee ballot after the vote but before the count.
Member in Good Standing
A Member in Good Standing is defined as one who has paid his/her dues by the March Meeting or upon joining the Organization and has attended three Organization sponsored functions within the past twelve months.

2007 MEMBERSHIP DUES
The membership will be voting at the November meeting to determine whether a dues increase can be implemented for 2007. The IBO dues have not increased for several years and are well below those of other business networking organizations. Please attend the November meeting if you wish to vote on this issue.

The IBO provides a unique forum for Irish and Irish-American business people to network via its regular meetings and other events and initiatives. The organization's "mantra" (Network, Communicate, Reciprocate) sums up what the IBO is all about. We look forward to your continued membership. We encourage you to invite your colleagues and friends to attend a meeting so that they can learn more about the IBO. The strength of an organization lies in its membership. Growing the organization will present opportunities to broaden our networking opportunities and grow our business contacts.

If you have a career that you would like to develop further, run an enterprise that you would like guidance on, or simply would like a wise and unbiased head to turn to - the IBO Mentoring Program could be the answer. We have access to experienced individuals both within and outside the IBO who have offered to act as Mentors to our members.
The Program is free to IBO members and is totally confidential.

One hears of many success stories of how membership of the IBO has led to new business, a new job, etc. We are seeking to collect these so that they can be used as ‘sales points’ to attract and retain members.
